Resources for Agencies, Citizens

All Agencies
FEMA Assistance
May be eligible for FEMA disaster assistance grants if they had losses or responded to the flood. This includes operation expenses for vehicles as well as use of a building for a POD (point of distribution). File a request for public assistance with FEMA. FEMA is not going to come around and ask. All expenses need to be documented. Keep track of hours of use daily. It’s minor record keeping that will yield good dividends.
Citizen Action Team
http://www.citizenactionteam.org/citizen/
They have a data base of needs that gets approximately 600 visits a day by people wanting to help those affected by disaster. Add your list to my site and get another 200 hits a day and with any luck, your needs will be filled very quickly! Terra of Citizen Action Team has stated there is a sudden surge in materials and goods available for donation. PLEASE utilize her team's efforts!
7/21 I am adding the needs lists as I receive them in hopes of making life a little easier for you folks.
Home Depot
http://corporate.homedepot.com/wps/portal/Grants
Do you have a pool of untrained volunteers? Home Depot gives grants to train the volunteers AND you can request trained personnel to assist! Very good program!
Volunteer Tool Kit
http://www.ldr.org/coordinators/
The link to DL the tool kit is about half way down the page.
I have DL'd from KatrinaAidToday.org (no longer on their site) that is wonderful for obtaining, training and retaining volunteers for long term projects. Please contact me and I'll send it to you. It was designed by the Lutherans and is an outstanding booklet.
New Hope Construction
http://www.newhopeconstruction.org/.
There is a not for profit "building in a box" maker who is more than willing to work with any not for profit and many individuals to help you get a building back up as quickly as possible. Wonderful people!
8/18 More Funding Available

7/28 Chamber Of Commerce
The Chamber has reached out to as many of our business members as possible via e-mail and by telephone to find out who was affected by the disaster and what kinds of assistance or supplies they need. We are also compiling a list of companies that can offer assistance or supplies. Lastly, we are endeavoring to call Chamber member businesses in the hardest hit areas of Broome County that have not had the chance to contact us with their status and/or needs. A full status report will be posted on the "Business Disaster Relief Info" page of our website. A list of disaster relief assistance available to businesses will be posted on the "Business Disaster Relief Info" page of our website.

Volunteer Fire Departments
The NVFC Volunteer Firefighter Support Fund provides a stipend of up to $250 in individual assistance to volunteer firefighters who are affected by a disaster. Volunteer firefighters in need should contact their state fire association. A full list of NVFC state fire associations can be found at www.nvfc.org/links.html#State_Members, or contact NVFC at nvfcoffice@nvfc.org or 888-ASK-NVFC (275-6832).

Farmers
Found in the Press and Sun Bulletin - www.HayExchange.com It covers the entire US and some of Canada - shows the price, if it will be delivered and what the hay is composed of before you even have to contact the folks. MANY resources for NY and PA to access at this time.

Schools

List your needs on this site. It is a national index that does not charge for posting your needs. It is purely school oriented.
Clorox Classroom Cleaning Kits
http://www.cloroxclassrooms.com/register.html
To me, it looks like a great marketing campaign rather than a good will gesture. BUT, they do donate some items and then have coupons for other items. If you are a teacher or school administrator, please review the information and see if it will help you clean up after the flood.
